In-person and online therapy and counseling in Boulder and Longmont, CO

Meet Wesley Baker, LPCC, MA

I am a trauma informed, Somatic, Gestalt, and parts-work oriented psychotherapist and coach operating out of Boulder and Longmont, CO.

I specialize in working with clients with trauma, addictive behaviors, depression, anxiety, anger, and existential despair. I assist people in reclaiming exiled parts of self and life, and rekindling their passion and vitality.

I work with clients on all aspects of health and well-being: the biological/organismal, mind (cognitive), somatic (body), emotional, and spiritual levels.

Therapeutic Philosophy

We are here to play, explore, grow, create, and delight in the adventure of being human. As children, we are all generally pretty good at living our lives to the fullest. Along the way, many of us notice the light of life dim in us. We are unwittingly taught by caregivers, peers, and society at large that in order to survive and remain connected with others, we must try to be someone or something different than what we really are (“Don’t be sad! Don’t be angry! Be happy! Be calm!”) We also inevitably encounter tragic loss, and the fearful knowledge of the impermanence of ourselves and those we love. We may live with trauma, that is, trapped, painful energy in our bodies that has not been properly discharged. In order to cope, we shapeshift, we contract our hearts and minds, we numb, we distract, we close our eyes.

As we grow up, a bold, new possibility becomes available - to courageously experience and reclaim what we have cut off from ourselves, what we have avoided seeing, speaking, feeling, knowing - and thus re-enter the experience of wholeness. My role is to assist you in gently becoming aware of and connecting with your true self, and weeding through and liberating yourself from limiting thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs about yourself and life that are just not true, and no longer serve you. Ultimately, we are aiming at a life of playfulness, possibility, creativity, clarity, connection, and gratitude for being. I look forward to meeting you, wherever you are, on your path.
